Why go
San Francisco is more compact than Los Angeles, but challenging due to its hills, traffic and scarce parking spaces for large vehicles. The mixture of bays, historic neighborhoods, cable cars and vantage points is nevertheless unique.
The stop can be easily integrated into the proposed round trip and offers a clear contrast to the previous stage.

Union Square, Hayes Valley, Mission and Ferry Building offer very different shopping possibilities. For large stock purchases suburbs on the peninsula or in East Bay are more practical.

Practical tips
Leave the camper outside and use public transport.
Never leave luggage visible in the vehicle.
Also take a warm jacket in the summer.
Plan Alcatraz separately and reserve early.
Our recommendation
San Francisco deserves several days. Live outside, take a ferry, bus or train to the centre and explore the neighborhoods on foot. This makes your visit much more relaxed.
