Conclusion

Wyoming is the epitome of the American West. Powerful mountain ranges, endless prairies, deep canyons and an exceptionally rich wildlife characterise the state. With Yellowstone and Grand Teton, Wyoming houses two of North America's most spectacular national parks. At the same time, the vast landscapes, historic western cities and low population density ensure that many regions still feel untouched and unspoiled today.

Our personal highlights include Yellowstone National Park with its geysers and hot springs, the majestic mountains of Grand Teton National Park, Devils Tower, the winding Beartooth Highway and the impressive landscapes of Bighorn Canyon. We also remember the numerous wildlife observations with bisons, elks, wapitis and grizzly bears.

For a varied tour we recommend the following route:

Devils Tower → Sheridan → Bighorn Mountains → Cody → Yellowstone National Park → Grand Teton National Park → Jackson → Pinedale → Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area → Cheyenne

For this route you should plan at least 10 to 14 days. If you want to hike extensively or spend several days in the national parks, you should provide two to three weeks.

The best time to travel is between June and September. In these months most pass roads are open, the temperatures are pleasant and the conditions are ideal for hiking tours, camping and road trips. In September the autumn colours and the brunt season of many wildlife provide for impressive nature experiences.

Wyoming is one of North America's most impressive destinations. The combination of world-famous national parks, spectacular landscapes, fascinating wildlife and the authentic flair of the Wild West makes every trip unforgettable. If you bring enough time with you and also discover the less well known regions, you will experience a state full of contrasts and original nature.
