North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum
The largest and most important North Dakotas Museum is one of the city's absolute highlights.
The modern exhibitions lead through millions of years of history – from dinosaurs to the Ice Age, to the colonization of the Great Plains and the development of the state.

The state capitol is one of the few high-rise buildings in North Dakotas, with a height of 73 metres.
From the viewing platform you can enjoy a beautiful view over Bismarck and the Missouri River.
Former Governor of Mansion
The former governors' residence provides an exciting insight into the life of North Dakota's political leadership between 1893 and 1960.

Avoid frequent errors
Many travelers use Bismarck as an overnight stay only and miss the excellent Heritage Center.
Plan enough time for the museum – a short visit is hardly enough.
Numerous events take place in summer. Reserve campsites early.
Don't use downtown with your camper – the pickup truck or a bicycle are much more practical.
