Waterton Lakes National Park

Waterton connects prairie and Rocky Mountains in a particularly narrow space. The park is smaller and quieter than Banff, but offers dramatic mountains, lakes and good wildlife watching.

The stop is intended as a quiet stage. The Fifth Wheel remains on a suitable basis if possible, while narrow local, coastal and park roads are only explored with the pickup truck.

Bear rules consistently observe.

Check access to secondary valleys in advance.

Never take water untested from lakes or rivers into the fresh water tank. Replenish drinking water only at released sources or prepare it professionally.

Waterton deserves two full days and is a quiet start to the Rockies.
