For a varied tour we recommend the following route:

West Yellowstone → Bozeman → Helena → Great Falls → Glacier National Park → Whitefish → Kalispell → Flathead Lake → Missoula → Butte

For this route you should plan at least 10 to 14 days. If you want to do additional hiking tours or spend several days in Glacier National Park, you should count more than two to three weeks.

The best time to travel is between June and September. During this time, most of the mountain roads are open and the weather conditions are ideal for hiking tours, road trips and camping. In September, the first autumn colours and the quieter atmosphere also provide a special travel experience.
