Overview
This proposal combines comfortable supply nights with simple campgrounds and free overnight stays. After two to three self-sufficient nights at the latest, a place with fresh water and disposal is deliberately followed again. Where Boondocking with a large Fifth Wheel does not make sense, the plan remains with an official campground.
Recommended basic rhythm
Camping with service → 1–2 nights Dry Camping or Boondocking → Camping with water and dump station. In case of heat, cold or high consumption supply earlier.

Camping + service | Missoula | Missoula KOA Holiday or Jim & Mary's RV Park. Start 2 nights with Full Hook-up; fill fresh water, empty tanks, laundry and first vehicle control.
Boondocking | Hungry Horse reservoir | Dispersed Camping in the Flathead National Forest. No infrastructure. Use only existing places, check access by daylight and observe current blockings.
National Park Camp | Glacier National Park | Reserve Apgar or Fish Creek for suitable vehicle length. Drinking water and dump/fill stations are available seasonally at many large campgrounds; no space connections.
Camping + service | Helena | Helena North KOA or similar RV Park. Choose Full Hook-up and do water, wastewater, propane and food before continuing.
Boondocking | Revenue Flats at Norris | BLM area between Helena/Virginia City and Bozeman. No supply; after rain, access roads can be soft. Check parking space first without Fifth Wheel.
Camping + service | Bozeman / Paradise Valley | Bozeman Hot Springs Campground or Yellowstone Edge RV Park. Suitable as a complete service stop in front of Red Lodge and Yellowstone.
Camping | Red Lodge | Red Lodge KOA or an RV park in the area. Take care of water and disposal before the Beartooth Highway; pass road only by pickup truck.
Camping + service | Gardiner / Yellowstone | For maximum comfort Fishing Bridge RV Park; alternatively Madison or Canyon with seasonal dump/fill possibility. Reserve very early.
Important for a big Fifth Wheel
Always check Boondocking access roads first without trailer. Only use public, legally accessible and already used areas. Before each journey current blockings, fire regulations, motor vehicle use maps, ground conditions, maximum vehicle length and turning area on the official pages of BLM, US Forest Service, National Park Service, State Parks and Recreation.gov control. Taps only for filling tanks if this is expressly allowed.
