Why go
Pacific Rim stands for surf, wide beaches and tempered rainforest. Tofino is more lively, Ucluelet calmer; both are suitable as a base for the national park and the west coast.
The stop is intended as a quiet stage. The Fifth Wheel remains on a suitable basis if possible, while narrow local, coastal and park roads are only explored with the pickup truck.

Practical tips
Check Highway 4 on construction sites and closures before driving.
Ride slowly with a big team and in daylight.
Never feed bears and wolves; secure food.
Save offline maps. In rural regions, national parks and in the north, mobile communications can be missing over long distances.
Never take water untested from lakes or rivers into the fresh water tank. Replenish drinking water only at released sources or prepare it professionally.
Our recommendation
Ucluelet is often the more relaxed base for a big team. Plan at least one full day for Long Beach and one for the Wild Pacific Trail.
